Authentication and project scope
REST uses a project-scoped API key in the Authorization header. Select the project, open your profile menu and choose Connected tools → Build with the Astor API → Create an API key. Current membership, role and granted scope apply to each operation. See connection setup.
This reference is generated at build time from Astor’s actual OpenAPI document. Download the snapshot for this release, or read the live platform contract.
Requests and responses
Use JSON bodies where shown. Write operations require the inputs in their schema, including version/revision and idempotency fields where applicable. Retry uncertain writes with the same payload and key.
The source contract currently documents request shapes and common error statuses. Some response bodies have no detailed schema; that omission does not mean the response is empty.
For ticket analysis, read the current full ticket before answering. analysis.canFollowUp and analysis.followUpQuestions identify saved questions eligible for an included reply. Supply analysis_id with the current analysis ID. A nonempty message cannot authorize a first review, resolved questions or changed scope; those requests return 409 without starting work. An eligible reply can return a saved blocked analysis when its estimated cost ceiling is reached. Its clarification history retains the answer; it starts no model attempt and reserves no extra units. An empty message requests a new six-unit review, subject to the current pool and budget.
Request limits
A request sent too quickly can return 429. Wait before retrying. For a write with an uncertain result, retain the original idempotency key and payload while your access is unchanged; do not create a new operation just to retry. Request limits do not change your project’s AI budget or charge for reading.

GET/inboxget_inbox
Read feedback, ideas, contextual mission results and useful Live findings awaiting a project decision. Similar wording is a grouping hint, not a proven common cause. Free. Live findings require live:read; read-only and no AI work starts.

POST/inbox/decisionsdecide_inbox
When a product owner asks, choose an Inbox improvement, attach its evidence to an existing ticket or dismiss it. A reason is optional. The response includes an undo reference valid for ten minutes if work has not continued. Read get_inbox first; supply every reviewed feedback version and finding_revision for Live findings. Supply environment_id when reviewing a website-filtered finding. Choosing preserves observations and never approves scope or starts AI work. The target must be a current chosen ticket in this project. Live decisions also require live:read. Reuse the same idempotency key on retry.

POST/site-accessconfigure_site_access
Owner/admin and settings:write required. Only act when the owner requests it. Read get_site_access first and supply the current version. connect creates a server credential shown once; rotate replaces it and stops the old server connection. Keep that credential on the server. lock requires a connected server and a saved password, or a new password and matching confirm_password. unlock makes the website public. password replaces the shared password; prior visitor sessions expire. This is separate from the Astor account password.

When a product owner requests it, start an unlocked ticket review at 6 Astor units with an empty message, or answer a current saved open question within its accepted review using message and optional analysis_id. Included replies reserve no extra units, even at zero pool; a first, resolved or changed review cannot authorize free model work. All calls share the accepted review’s estimated cost ceiling; a stop retains the manual path and never starts a paid fallback. Read with get_ticket; a human reviews and saves the suggestion through update_ticket. Linked Live evidence also requires live:read. Reuse idempotency_key on retry.
